Need to know a bit more info I'm will take you about five minutes to reply.

Before doing anything check the garage to ensure that nothing is missing.. sounds obvious... Take a closer look at the detector and check for external damage and that the front cover is secure.. a loose cover will cause a tamper fault.. Are you or your husband able to handle a small screwdriver (or change a plug in other words) ?

Look for any writing on the keypad or control panel which may tell us the name of the manufacturer.

Since this appears to be a simple tamper fault, have you had any building or renovation work done which may have damaged cables without you being aware of it ? Have you had carpet fitters in recently ?

Let's take it from there as a starter.

Take Care

Sounds like a mains fuse has blown then internal battery has died.

Sounds like rodent damage. Rodents quite often like to snack on cables believe it or not. if this is the case its likely you will need to re cable the garage sensor.
