You must clear the tamper fault first

Link out the tamper terminals in the panel, including bell tamper, check that there is no movement in the keypad since this is on a spring tamper, ensure that no bare tamper wires are touching zone wires at the panel. check the fuses, little glass ones. Close the panel, listen for the microswitch clicking closed, it's on a spring on the pcb. press reset button twice then press 0 then 1 then 2 then 3. Should reset to day mode (2 leds glowing). If not, you'll need to reset the panel using the engineering manual. Nice panel, I'd recommend it. Should last you for years.

could be a PIR tamper switch that needs resetting, especially if a PIR has been disturbed/knocked. Just remove the cover & press the reset switch/button. Worked for me !

Just power down mains and battery , power up mains first , replace battery soon.Careful around hazardous voltages.

Is it just Optima or Optima XL, XM etc? If it's just Optima & has a flat, black keypad the bin beckons.
Ron.

Takes me back a bit Ron, I had one in my museum ( read cardboard box for museum) and I gave the thing away to someone... Any idea how old they are ?

The original Optima must be at least 23 years old now ...I think I've been taking them out for 20 years.

Thanks for the photo Fastcar...gosh it takes me back a bit...a lot even..It seems like only yesterday I was installing them like they were going out of fashion...erm ! they have gone out of fashion.. "Still got one out there" ? ... I think we'd all be surprised at the number of old panels which just seem to plod on endlessly. Could start a new thread " who has seen the oldest working panel in daily use ?"

Take Care

I serviced an Optima 2 until a few months ago. Got a shiny new Veritas now.

If it's an original Optima (see pic) just give it a funny look, it'll crash.

I have an Optima xm but with the system reset the outside alarm sounds all the time, all
looks good on control panel. The only way to stop sounder is to remove it's cables from alarm box.Help please.

Have there been any changes to the bell wires in the panel?

Echo Fastcar's comment.
Possibly a faulty SAB. Might need a new bellbox.
Ron.

Probably the battery is dead. Read site disclaimer, switch off mains, open panel, disconnect battery, close panel, restore mains. If it works buy a new battery ASAP. 2Amp or nearest. Don't pay more than a tenner.
Ron.

Tell me, and I'll forget. Show me, and I'll remember. Involve me, and I'll learn.
